----

In this 2005 adaptation with Heath Ledger movie makers take a different and interesting approach.

The film opens with an 18th century old man writing in his home the accounts and adventures of Giacomo.

Shortly after we are taken right into the story.

Wow, right at the outset we are presented with his promiscuous ways. But we can't expect anything else from such a film and such film makers as those in Hollywood.

I was hoping for a little more history though, instead I got a sort of an Alfie of the 1700s.

Needless to say, you won't find this film very educational at all but one that will awaken a lascivious imagination and desire. That, of course, is up to you.

With that said, and after I got over my immediate dislike of it, I found myself watching a sort of fun but very sexual chick flick. Don't get me wrong, I knew what I was getting myself into, but I definitely did not expect it to be so dirty.

Rarely do I watch special features before a film and I was glad I did. I got excited to watch the film and perhaps enjoy.

Here's why,
It was filmed in Venice, the entire thing. I have never been to Venice, only in my imagination and through film. It looks so beautiful and well taken care of, as though the only thing that has changed is its inhabitants, but the buildings and architecture are just spectacular.
